Ocean and Sea Shore Dreams

I have always been drawn to the sea and surrounding shoreline.  Even as a child I would collect starfish, crabs and shells on my annual beach holiday.  This didn't always go down well when my Mum asked what the smell was?!

I am working on a new series incorporating inspiration from beach debris and snorkelling on coral reefs.  I love all the jewel colours  which make up the corals, tropical fish, sea creatures and seaweeds.

I have been introducing some of these colours in the form of semi precious stones and triplet opals.   I would also like to set some uncut rubies and sapphires to show the raw beauty of the reefs.   This is to demonstrate their vulnerability to damage through misuse and devastating acts of nature like cyclones and the Crown of Thorns starfish.
